Frequently Asked Questions

  • Individuals or businesses may need a notarization to prove their identity and deter fraud. Notarizations are typically classified into two categories: Acknowledgement and Jurat. An Acknowledgment is a notarial act used to verify a signer's identity. Signers usually do not need to be present with a notary when they sign the document. However, they must personally appear before the notary to confirm (acknowledge) their signature on the document. A Jurat is a notarial act used when a signer is swearing or affirming the veracity of the contents of a document. In this case, the signer must appear personally before a notary public, sign the document before the notary, and verbally swear or affirm that the document's contents are true and accurate to the signers' knowledge.
